Performs complex technical and analytical geographic information systems tasks and a variety of assignments; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision of the GIS Manager.
Qualified applicant must possess a Bachelor’s degree with major course work in geography, GIS, computer science or related field and considerable experience in municipal, county, or regional GIS systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience. GISP (Geographic Information Systems Professional) certification is preferred. Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
Considerable knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles and practices associated with the design, development, and support of GIS applications is required; must possess a variety of intermediate and advanced GIS skills including support, maintenance, management, and quality assurance of geospatial databases; must have considerable experience with esri’s ArcGIS Desktop 10.3/ ArcGIS Pro 2.4 or higher; must be familiar with geodatabase structure; must have a solid grasp on relational database concepts; must be familiar with ArcGIS Server and GIS web services; must be familiar with Python scripting and ModelBuilder; must be knowledgeable of current literature and recent developments in the field of GIS; must be able to analyze and to systematically compile technical and statistical information into technical reports, maps, and other related materials and be able to present that information clearly and concisely; must have strong oral and written communication skills; and must have the abilities to interpret various rules and regulations and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
