Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries is looking to hire a Principal Equipment Maintenance Technician in Postfab to sustain the Development test floor with primary responsibility of resolving equipment and process issues. Technician positions are hourly shift positions (nights or days) working a compressed week of 12-hour shifts, thought this position will be on our D1 shift (daytime hours 7am - 7pm; on a 2-2-3 rotation). GlobalFoundries is a 24/7 manufacturing facility providing technician support across all shifts. This role is fully on site.

Essential Responsibilities include:

• Monitor, control, and qualify 200/300 mm semiconductor equipment

• Perform basic preventive maintenance activities

• React to error messages of factory systems and/or equipment

• Process wafers using defined procedures

• Perform visual inspections (quality check)

• Recover from process and tool interruptions

• Identify and address potential areas for improvement and optimize tool availability, cycle time, utilization, and cost

• Complete all required reporting and documentation

• Understand and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements

• Actively participate in continuous improvement processes, learning and skills development

• Strong team member, able to work well with a global team, and other duties as assigned

• Monitor, control, and test semiconductor equipment for manufacturing readiness

• Recover equipment from process interruptions, complete event documentation and effectively communicate end of shift pass downs

• Ability to effectively use time management to prioritize and plan daily work and scheduled activities.

Essential Functions - Physical Capacity Demands (Employees must be able to perform these essential functions, with or without an accommodation):

• Ability to work in a standing position for >85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks)

• Ability to walk on uneven surfaces for >85% of a 12-hour shift

• Ability to lift, pull, and/or carry at least 50 pounds periodically throughout the shift

• Able to lift equipment and tools when performing maintenance activities (above 50lbs requires a two-person lift)

• Ability to manually manipulate hand tools and small hardware for >85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks)

• Ability to perform activities that include climbing vertical ladders, bending at waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching up/over, and crawling for >85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks)

• Ability to utilize computer (typing, visual screen time) for >85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks)

• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol/requirements

• Able to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required clean room clothing per semiconductor protocol/requirements for a minimum of 10 hours a day

• Able to wear upgraded PPE in accordance with GF safety procedures, including, but not limited to, safety shoes, safety glasses, chemical splash apron & gloves, and full-face shield, when required.

• Able to remain in compliance with OSHA & NIOSH standard CFR 29 1910.134 (clean shaven) to don and work in an N95 Dust Mask or other air filtering devices, to include full-face respirator (cartridge & supplied air) for extended periods of time (> 2 hours)

Preferred Functions - Skills:

• Review Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and react to Out-of-Control conditions including defect troubleshooting

• Develop & enhance operating procedures

• Actively participate in continuous improvement projects, learning and skills development

• Ability to read and comprehend schematics / blueprints / electrical diagrams

• Experience utilizing basic hand tools and quality workmanship principles

• Experience with troubleshooting and structured problem-solving techniques

• Basic understanding of the principles of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems

Other Responsibilities:

• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs

• Other duties as assigned by manager / supervisor

Required Qualifications:

• Education: 2 Year Technical/associate's degree in science, Math, Engineering, Semi-Conductor Manufacturing or a related discipline or equivalent military training/experience or equivalence

• Experience: minimum 4-5 years' mechanical / electrical experience or relevant semiconductor related equipment repair

• Travel Requirements: Minimal travel

• Language Fluency: English (both Written & Verbal)

• Basic reading and writing comprehension skills

• Basic computer navigation skills - (i.e.Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel)

• Able to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required clean room clothing per semiconductor protocol/requirements.

• Able to operate computer interfacing systems

• Able to work in a standing position for an extended period of time (during a 12-hour shift)

• Able to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks and required documentation; demonstrate solid work performance in an environment requiring high level of attention to detail and timeliness

• Able to lift equipment and tools when performing maintenance activities (above 50lbs requires a two-person lift)

• Flexible and willing to work any shift (3-4 days alternating weeks during day or night shift)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: 4 Year Technical/associate's degree in science, Math, Engineering, Semi-Conductor Manufacturing or a related discipline or equivalent military training/experience or equivalence

• Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent military experience

• Strong technical skills and knowledge of semiconductor processing and process equipment

• Proficiency with software applications and Microsoft Office

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong planning & organizational skills
