Pros

Very good engineering company with brilliant coworkers, Amazing salary and benefits, pension and generous 401K. I retired at 58 yo with an amazing pension package that put me in the top 3% of US retirees.

Cons

Job satisfaction in an abstract concept. Job employment security is nonexistent and the employee performance system is highly subjective. I had a very succesful career for 34 years, but recognize that it is a toxic environment and the company is not just for anyone. It requires a high tolerance for abuse, daily grind and long hours.

Pros

Good pay, excellent benefits (except PTO) including for dependents Excellent maternity / paternity policies Flexible work & remote occasionally, especially after Covid Many career paths, lots of opportunities worldwide, plenty of movement between roles (every 1-2 years typical for an early career employee) I've been told experienced hire pay is competitive.

Cons

Early career employees only get 2 weeks of vacation, which isn't competitive with industry. Forced ranking system probably gets 80% of assessments correct. If you're in the 20%, prepare to be paid less and have your career opportunities limited. Senior management tends to identify talent early, influenced by undergraduate school choice (typical for Texas-based schools to do well). If you're not in this pool, even if you do well, your potential will be capped. Experienced hires tend to be capped in their potential as well.
