      Very fulfilling work, questionable scheduling practices and lackluster pay - DONOR SPECIALIST II Inova Employee Review

      Pros

      Coworkers were fun to work with. The work is fulfilling as you are helping the local community. Plenty of phlebotomy experience if that’s what you’re after. Over the course of 2 years I was able to do close to 3000 sticks in a clinical setting.

      Cons

      Approval process for PTO is very competitive. It must be done many months in advance to guarantee you get specific days off. Will have to work a rotating list of holidays. This job could take a toll on your vehicle as donor centers are spread out around Northern Virginia. Additionally, mobile blood drives are hosted all across the DMV area and so commuting may be different each week.

      Since starting at Inova, I’ve felt genuinely welcomed and supported by my team. The onboarding process was well-organized, and everyone has been helpful in making the transition smooth. It’s clear that Inova values both its patients and its employees, which makes a big difference in day-to-day work.
