Transformation Happening!

Pros

Real positive change is happening here. New people have been coming in with fresh ideas and energy which is exciting! Some are leading new and exciting change aimed at making us better at really helping children. A couple newer hires on executive team are finally doing what is needed to really update the organization. The mission is also wonderful and we are now getting better at what we do!!

Cons

CF still feels stuck in the past and too many people are resisting change. Maybe because many leaders have been here too long. Some executives and leaders have worked for CF for like 10-15 years and their leadership ideas and styles could use an update. I should also mention that the culture here can be very hard and a little strange. It feels like people are being watched and a lot of firing happens. One of the younger executives who has been at CF for a long time is always talking bad about some of her colleagues. The absence of the top leader also feels like a leadership vacuum at times.

Pros

Good benefits, an incredible mission, very dedicated and kind line staff who are committed to their work.

Cons

We have a very dysfunctional executive leadership team that has trickled down the negative impacts to other parts of the organization and led to serious concerns about organizational culture going forward. There is one executive in particular who has changed the tone of the executive team for the worse in the last nearly two years and is primarily responsible for the negative tone throughout the division they lead, which also seriously effects other divisions. That person's leadership style is divisive to say the least - they talk negatively about people who report to them and their peers on the executive team to anyone and everyone who will listen; they seem to have little to no respect for ChildFund as an organization or its history of sponsorship; they badmouth staff skills and refer to country office staff in particular in derogatory ways; they instill fear in the staff that they directly supervise and others. There have been many complaints through various channels and nothing has been done; maybe not enough staff have spoken up because of the fear they feel. ChildFund is in a very bad position if staff continue to be led by this person. It's toxic.
