Pros

If you're south Asian, you're golden. You will be given preference and priority at all levels. You will ascend through the glass ceiling that exists for the American HCL Tech workforce.

Cons

Farm animals are treated with more dignity and compassion than the usual HCL Tech employee in the USA is. Faster! Harder! Turn over more tickets! CVK needs more money! You have no sick time. Don't feel good? Use vacation! Need surgery? Hope you have the leave banked. Training and professional development? Not here. Can't have the horses skilling up and leaving! Go take the garbage web training--and unless it fits your current job title 100%, don't plan on taking a certification exam. Your HCL certificate will be fine! The "bench" is a perpetual threat. This is essentially a job purgatory workers are sent to when removed from projects. The problem is that there is no "bench" in the US workforce. Instead, it is a place to send workers to die on the vine as they scramble for projects. This company is absolutely dehumanizing to its workers.

1. Low ratings on compensation & benefits Employees in the Frisco region rate HCL’s pay and benefits poorly. On Glassdoor the Frisco location gets ~2.6/5 stars, with compensation & benefits averaging around 2.6/5.  “They know it. There are comparable positions that pay considerably higher.”  So, the pay may be less competitive relative to comparable tech jobs in the area. 2. Unclear career advancement / slow growth Reviews indicate that moving up or changing projects can be difficult. Many mention being stuck in one role or being on “bench” (i.e., waiting for assignment) with training videos rather than meaningful work.  It may especially affect early-career professionals or those hoping for rapid advancement. 3. Management and organizational issues Complaints include lack of direction from managers, disorganized processes, and micro-management of support teams. For example: “It is very un-organized and the processes in place are not efficient.”  This suggests that some teams may function less smoothly than others, which can impact your day-to-day experience. 4. High risk of outsourcing / job insecurity concerns Some reviews in Frisco mention fear of roles being moved offshore, or “bill-and-move” arrangements where US-based roles are phased out.
